Meet Asa, Founder of Yogance Academy

Asa’s love for dance began in childhood, and she initially turned to yoga to enhance her dance performance. While many yogis view yoga as a journey of self-exploration, Asa found that her practice went beyond theory. Yoga became a practical tool for achieving balance in her life—spanning work, lifestyle, and personal growth.

Still a passionate dancer at heart, Asa sought to fuse the elements of dance into her yoga practice. This integration allowed her to connect more deeply with her body, emotions, and inner self. Driven to push the boundaries of traditional yoga, Asa envisioned Yogance Academy as a platform to share the unique blend of beauty, stillness, and fluidity that arises from merging these two disciplines.

At Yogance, Asa hopes people will not only develop a newfound appreciation for yoga and dance but also gain a deeper understanding of their true selves. She finds great joy in progressing alongside her students and sharing this transformative experience.

After graduating from the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts with a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Ballet and a minor in Choreography, Peggy embarked on a career as a freelance artist and dance educator. She collaborated with renowned industry groups including Tang Shu-wing Theatre Studio, Beyond Dance Theater, City Contemporary Dance Company, Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, and Passover Dance.

Peggy began practicing yoga during her studies and discovered that it not only enhanced her muscle strength but also improved her dance skills. Her exploration of various yoga styles continued after graduation. In 2022, she discovered Yogance and was thrilled by the synergy of yoga and dance, finding joy in blending these two disciplines to reap the benefits of both.

As the Principal Yogancer at Yogance Academy, Peggy is dedicated to promoting the Yogance movement and making it accessible to a wider audience. She aims to encourage people to move freely and develop a genuine love for dance through the unique fusion of yoga and dance offered by Yogance.
